Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a television reporter. Antonietta was bilingual by her age of nine. This ability that allowed her to get her first position as an Univision producer assistant Miami. In Miami, she was a producer for National shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. In 2009, the CBS station of St. Petersburg hired her after this as a sports reporter. In 2009, she relocated from Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting for KNVO TV 48 Univision. In 2009 she made the move to Rio Grande Valley, Texas and became a journalist for KNVO 48 Univision and Fox2 News. The station also frequently asked her to fill in as a sports and weather anchor. She then anchored and reported at Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She also did segments on MLB's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. Besides this, she produced Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. She worked as the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. As a sports anchor, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins' grandparents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The girl was born on November 22nd, 1985 in Mexico City. Also, she has an older sister. The family moved to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. Her parents divorced soon after and, in 1995, she was married a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. The summer of 2006, she took one week with her sibling in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl worked at the time. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school however, she was very aware of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University in order to determine if they suited her. In the end, she was a fan of the university and the university offered the kind of program she was searching for. When she finished high school, she made the decision to attend the University with a major with Media Studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the director at WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was an affiliate. The passion he had for journalism as well as confidence in herself inspired her. She, in turn attempted to live up to his expectations and never let him down.
